Last updated: August 2026 · DataposIT, Nairobi, Kenya
DataposIT collects data from you through our interactions with you and through the solutions we offer, for a variety of purposes described below — including to operate effectively and provide you with the best experiences with our solutions. You provide this data directly, such as when you:
- Register to try out our solutions;
- Share user details for solution configurations and solution sizing;
- Submit an enquiry through our contact form or subscribe to our newsletter;
- Share log files with us for troubleshooting.
You always have choices when it comes to the technology you use and the data you share. When you are asked to provide personal data beyond what you deem necessary, you can request clarification and, if it is not satisfactory, you can choose to decline.
The data we collect
The data we collect can include the following:
- Name and contact data — your first and last name, email address, postal address, phone number, and other similar contact data for you and your users.
- Subscription and licensing data — information about your subscriptions, licenses, and other entitlements.
- Device, usage/consumption, and configuration data — data about your device and its identifiers and the products and features you use, including information about your hardware and software and how our solutions perform.
- Error reports and performance data— data about the performance of the products and any problems you experience, including error reports. Error reports (sometimes called "crash dumps") can include details of the software or hardware related to an error, contents of files opened when an error occurred, and data about other software on your device.
How we use your data
DataposIT uses the data we collect to provide you satisfactory experiences with our solutions and to better our interactions with you. In particular, we use data to:
- Provide our solutions — including configuring, updating, securing, and troubleshooting, as well as providing support. This also includes sharing data when it is required to provide the service or carry out the transactions you request.
- Improve and develop our products.
- Personalize our products and make recommendations.
- Advertise and market to you — including sending promotional communications, targeting advertising, and presenting you relevant offers.
- Operate our business — including analysing our performance, meeting our legal obligations, developing our workforce, doing research, and (with your consent) using your contact data for business operations such as developing our client references.
Sharing data with third parties
We share your data with your consent or as necessary for processing (to complete any transaction or provide any product and product support) you have requested or authorized. For example, we share situation-specific data with our suppliers and technology partners for the purposes of executing contractual obligations entered into with you — i.e. providing solution licenses, troubleshooting malfunctioning solutions, and offering support services.
Security of your data
DataposIT is committed to protecting the security of your data. We use a variety of security technologies and procedures to help protect your data from unauthorized access, use, or disclosure. For example, we store the personal data you provide on computer systems that have limited access and are in controlled facilities. When we transmit data over the internet, we protect it through the use of encrypted channels.
Data storage
In line with the Data Protection Act of 2019, we store all the data collected and processed locally in Kenya.
How to access and control your personal data
You can make choices about the collection and use of your data by DataposIT. You can control the data that DataposIT has obtained and exercise your data protection rights by contacting us through the communication channels below. This control also extends to the right to opt out of any advertising activities you are currently subjected to as a result of sharing your contact data.
Third party disclaimer
DataposIT will not be held liable in any kind, whether express or implied, with regard to any third-party data collection, data processing, data sharing, data storage, and data security. Agreements entered into with vendors of a third-party nature will cover the data privacy and security of the data collected, shared, and processed within the confines of the said agreement.
